About the Event:
A fundraising event established to fund student scholarships, the Derby dollars for Scholars Sturgeon Derby & Barbeque successfully generated over $20,000.000 in 2007. All proceeds from the 2008 event will be used to benefit scholarship programs at Wahkiakum and Naselle-Grays River Valley high schools. Your participation enables us to support our students as they work toward their education goals.

The Derby Dollars for Scholars Sturgeon Derby & Barbeque begins with a fishing Derby and prizes are awarded later in the Day. After the derby and weigh-in, a salmon and chicken barbeque dinner is served at the Wahkiakum, County Fairgrounds. Raffle Tickets will be sold through out the afternoon for an array of outstanding prizes packages. After dinner, there is a live auction, derby prizes are awarded and raffle drawings will be held. REMEMBER: Top prizes will be awarded by random drawings for all legal sturgeon entered.

Schedule: May 16, 2008: Postmark deadline for mail-in registration for guarantee of t-shirt. Complete form inside this brochure and mail in with your payment. May 29, 2008: Final day to register by drop-off locations (no t-shirt). May 31, 2008: 1:30 PM: Weigh-in starts. Registration packets available (dinner tickets and t-shirts). 2:00-3:00 PM: Naselle High School Marimba Band Performs 4:00 PM: Weight-in ends for fish not at the scale. 1:30-4:30 PM: Dinner Served. 4:30 PM Derby Prizes, live auction and raffles begin. |

Fishing Derby Rules: 1. Derby Prizes will be awarded by random drawing of all legal sturgeon entered. 2. Only one sturgeon allowed per participant. 3. Open to all boat or bank fisherman. All fisherman in boats must be in the Derby. 4. Weigh-in is at the Wahkiakum County Fairgrounds. WDF&W will be on hand. 5. All sturgeon will have their tails punched after weigh-in. 6. Only Sturgeon caught using Rod and Reel according to WDF&W or ODF&W regulations during legal fishing hours on Derby day are eligible for prizes. 7. No sturgeon with Tails fins cut or missing fins allowed. 8. Any sturgeon not at the weigh station before 4:00 PM will be disqualified. 9. Tournament officials will determine all rules, official time and weighs. |
NOTE: This Derby is put on for the benefit of youth and education. Be proud of what you do today! Anchor safely and have a great day fishing!
Kids Trout Pond and Derby:
The fishing pond is open to kids ages 12 & under. The pond will be stocked with 500 trout and kids may enter a separate derby to win prizes with he fish they catch. The equipment needed will be provided and the fishing is free.
Free T-Shirt with Entry:
Pre-Register for the Sturgeon Derby by May 16, 2008 and receive a free official derby t-shirt. See adjacent registration form for details. T-shirts will be distributed at the registration booth on the day of the derby.
